Tahuna Beach Holiday Park in partnership with Arts Council Nelson is delighted to announce the following artists will be exhibiting works in the inaugural Tahuna Beach Sculpture Walk Competition:

Maggy Johnston

Maggy (who lives in the Tasman region) has three works selected:
(i) ‘The Cycle Trail’ – a 3m high work in aluminium and cycle wheels – $5,000
(ii) ‘Wine Country Style’ – 2m high work comprising of wire and wine bottle tops – $3,500
(iii) ‘Reflections’ – 1.5 m high by 5m long work in waving reflective aluminium sheeting – $3,750

Chrissie Cleary

Chrissy (who lives in the Tasman region) will be exhibiting ‘Embrace’ – a circular iron and steel work 110cm wide.

David Carson

David (who lives in the Tasman region) will be exhibiting ‘Root Ball’ – 3m high work comprising of an inverted Douglas fir root ball with a hemisphere of wooden sticks.

Jane and Mario (from Canterbury) will be exhibiting ‘Stop the clock’ – a series 5 galvanised and mild steel dandelions approximately 3.5m high.

Donna Allfrey

Donna (from Nelson) has two works showing:
(i) ‘Droplets’ – 3 piece hanging plywood and found object sculpture; each approx. 1m high (To be hung from a tree)
(ii) ‘Tree of Pablo’ – Cubist style work in plywood and recycled objects to be installed wrapping a tree trunk.

Deborah Walsh & Jim MacKay

Deborah and Jim (from Nelson) will be exhibiting ‘Full Boar’ – wild pig standing approximately 110cm high and 1.25m long, using nikau palm fronds, lancewood, bone and horn.

Erhard (Tasman) will be exhibiting ‘Sliced Peacock III’ – approximately 1m sq, comprising of steel, aluminium, acrylic, photographs and frosted safety glass.

Larisse Hall

Larisse (Nelson) will be exhibiting ‘An Introduction’ – 6 pieces (3 pairs) of anthropomorphic forms up to 2m high. Powder coated aluminium, LED lighting and marine grade fabric. Work formally in daylight, but come into their own in darkness…

Vicki Smith & Cid Shearman

Vicki and Cid (Nelson) will be exhibiting ‘Flock’ – a series of five or six woven PVC panels on driftwood frames 2m high stretching over a 10m length depicting a flock of Torea/Oyster Catchers taking flight.

Dan Braulsh

Dan (Nelson) will be exhibiting ‘The Anti-Amphitheatre’ – an installation work approx 15m across by 3m high. Forming a semi-circular ‘curtain’ of VHS tape hanging from trees to the ground and incorporating figurative sculptures.

John Paul Pochin on behalf of Light Nelson Collective

JP (Nelson) will be exhibiting ‘Symbiosis’ – a collaborative work by him and some other ‘Light Nelson’ artists, we will see a field of 15 – 20 mushrooms approximtely 50cm high made of fibre glass, resin and electrical components. Translucent to allow sunlight to penetrate during the day, but at night take on a magical quality through internal colour changing LEDs.
