Deborah Walsh is a Nelson sculptor and jeweller who works with primal and seasonal materials that people relate to on an archetypal level. These include willow, supplejack, flax and old man’s beard.
After she graduated from the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology in Visual Arts she spent three months studying the ancient craft of basket making in the United Kingdom in 2000 and took part in the Nelson Sculpture Symposium (the predecessor of the Tahuna Beach Sculpture Walk Competition) twice.
Deborah is renowned around New Zealand and internationally.
