Many New Zealanders have fond memories of staying at Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park in Nelson
Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park has been collecting these holiday memories. The site where Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park is located, adjacent the golden sands of Tāhunanui Beach, has been available for holidaymakers and locals to enjoy since 1926. To celebrate, we called for holidaymakers from all over New Zealand to share their memories of staying at the holiday park over the past nine decades by submitting photos and short stories.
Public voting for the Collective Holiday Memories short story and photo competition has now closed.
The winners were announced on Friday 6 January 2017.
Four prize packages that were on offer:
- Best Story
- Best Photo
- People’s Choice Story
- People’s Choice Photo
The longer term goal of the project is to curate the very best archival material and community-generated content in order to develop a perpetual “living history” of TBHP and develop the heritage value of the Holiday Park site. The best photographs and stories, along with the official archival material, will be featured here on this website for many years to come. We’ve had also launched a PledgeMe campaign to bring together all the great holiday memories Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park visitors have shared in a stunning, full colour, 176-page coffee table book. With the pledges, we can produce a book that immortalises the story of Tāhuna Beach and the thousands of people who enjoy it every year.
