Terms and Conditions

General guidelines

  • There are no fees to enter.
  • Entries are welcome from contributors anywhere in the world who have stayed at Tahuna Beach Holiday Park (formerly called Tahuna Beach Motor Camp) or have Tahuna Beach holiday memories they wish to share.
  • There is no age limit.
  • Online submissions only. No postal or hand delivered entries.
  • Deadline is midnight NZ time (GMT+12) on Monday 3 1 October 2016. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Write Across Media employees (and sub-contractors) are not eligible to enter. Tahuna Beach Holiday Park staff may enter as they are not in any way involved in the reviewing process.

 

Short story competition entries

  • You will need to create a free Submittable account in order to enter the Short Story Competition, which you can do with an email address or by signing in with Facebook.
  • Prose stories should be at least 300 words but no greater than 700 words, written in English (any footnotes or endnotes should be included in that word count). We welcome both nonfiction (personal/memoir/historical) and fiction stories based on or inspired by your holiday memories at both Tahuna Beach and the Tahuna Beach Holiday Park (formerly called Tahuna Beach Motor Camp). Poems can be as short as a haiku but should be no more than 26 lines.
  • Entries must be original works written by an individual author or a collaboration between authors, and must not infringe upon anyone’s copyright.
  • Due to the large number of submissions, Write Across Media review staff will take responsibility for the initial reviewing and rating, during which a shortlist is decided upon. This shortlist will then be referred to the judges for reading.
  • All entries are final. No revisions are accepted.
  • Multiple entries are permitted.
  • Copyright remains with all entrants, including the winners, but by entering the Collective Holiday Memories competition you agree to assign a non-exclusive license to Tahuna Beach Holiday Park to publish your work in all media in perpetuity. This may include but is not limited to: online, radio, news media, heritage panels, books, calendars etc.
  • A shortlist will be announced in mid-November.
  • Public voting will be open from 3 November to 5pm on 23 December 2016.
  • The winners will be announced at a prize-giving event at Tahuna Beach Holiday Park on 6 January 2017 and in the Nelson Mail on Saturday 7 January 2017.
  • The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into about the judgements or the judging process.
  • Only shortlisted entrants and the winner will be notified. No feedback will be given on entries.
  • Tahuna Beach Holiday Park reserves the right not to award a prize in a specific category if there are no suitable submissions.

 

Photo competition entries

  • You can enter either via our submissions platform (in which case you will need to create a free Submittable account, which you can do with an email address or by signing in with Facebook) OR via Twitter or Instagram by using the hashtag #tahunamemories
  • Photos must be taken at Tahuna Beach Holiday Park or Tahuna Beach and its surrounds in order to be eligible.
  • Photos must be in pdf, jpg, gif, png or tiff format. We need publication quality images so please submit images at their ORIGINAL SIZE, ideally with a MINIMUM file size of one megabyte (1MG).
  • Entries must be original images taken by the person submitting or a family member and must not infringe upon anyone’s copyright. The entrant will indemnify the Tahuna Beach Camp Incorporated against any claim, loss or costs incurred by the Tahuna Beach Camp Incorporated where a third party claims ownership of the rights to a photo. The Tahuna Beach Camp Incorporated reserves the right to request proof of photo ownership.
  • By submitting the photo, you confirm that you have the permission of all individual(s) captured in photo(s) to share and publish their image. You fully indemnify Tahuna Beach Camp Incorporated and its sponsors against any claims arising from third parties in the event that your submitted image infringes intellectual, property or model rights if published by Tahuna Beach Holiday Park and its sponsors for promotion or acknowledgment of the competition and/or exhibition.
  • Entrants retain copyright to their images and agree that material submitted may be used in whole or in part by Tahuna Beach Holiday Park and its sponsors for promotion or acknowledgment of the competition and/or exhibition. Entrants agree submitted material may be cropped for editorial and layout purposes and that such altered images may be credited to them.
  • Due to the large number of submissions, Write Across Media review staff will take responsibility for the initial reviewing and rating, during which a shortlist is decided upon. This shortlist will then be referred to the panel for judging.

  • Finalists: Finalists will be selected during the period 1-30 November 2016 and each finalist will contacted for the high resolution originals. If they cannot be contacted during this period via the contact details supplied on entry, another finalist will be selected and announced on Facebook during the following week.
  • A shortlist will be announced in early December.
  • Public voting will be open from 3 November to 5pm on 23 December 2016.
